His infamous proclamation that "Climate change is crap" is really starting to come back to bite him (as is "stop the boats", buts that is another story). Not only is he starting to look increasingly isolated over his stance, internationally, he is starting to cop much deserved flack for it.

"Flak" is written as "f-l-a-k" because it was originally a German acronym from WW2. The letters stand for the impossible-to-pronounce "Flugzeugabwehrkanone" which is a portmanteau word (German is full of portmanteau words which is a compound word made up of two or more other words) made up of three words meaning "aircraft" (Flugzeug - literally "fly toy"), "defence" (abwehr) and "kanone" (cannon). Take the /fl/ of "flak" from the first word, the /a/ from the second and the /k/ from the third and you get "flak". That's why there's no /c/ in "flak"!

"The transcript, released by The Queen's College, Oxford, shows Mr Abbott did most poorly in the subject "General philosophy from Descartes to present day", for which he received the mark CCB..." Read more: www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/tony-abbotts-oxford-transcript-released-20131125-2y6a1.html#ixzz2ligEetjbPim I'm so ignorant as to how to get more information to you, but the above is a snippet. I do not think the tone of the article is in any way sneering but I dislike Abbott anyway and his performance so far as PM is, I believe, at best, perverse, and probably reflects great incompetence...

We can't always be ruled by philosopher kings. Two philosopher kings in our lifetimes were Whitlam and Keating. Both of them Gullivers whose downfall at the hands of Lilliputians was inevitable and they knew it.
That the Liberals are the party of Lilliput, and that under Abbott they continue ferociously to behave as the party of Lilliput, should come as no surprise.
Labor on the other hand is always at its best when it functions as the party of Gulliver. My problem with Australian politics ever since the defeat of Keating in 1996 has been that the Labor Party has also been manifesting some disturbingly Lilliputian qualities ...
