'Glory be Jules likes Mal and hates Abbasher no surprise there'....well thats 11 words...someone else can dig up the rest... I reckon it illustrates so very much about the current state of polity in Australia, Zombie.

Aistralia is a "polity". But then so is the City of Adelaide. It has a city council headed up by a Lord Mayor elected in terms of the Local Government Act which is a law of the SA Parliament. So it too is a "polity". Even a country town with its own shire council is a "polity". So is each of the six States and two Territories of the Commwealth of Australia a "polity". Grammatically "polity" is a noun with a very specific reference. If we speak of a "polity" we refer to a specific place. So "polity" is usually preceded by an article like "a" or "the". "Politics" on the other hand can be used generically. So in certain cases you dispense with the article. Therefore while it's perfectly correct to say "the state of politics" it's NEVER correct to say "the state of polity". You should rethink your use of "polity" in #4. I trust that is of assistance!

If not an assitance that was informative Pim.....polity...can't say I have heard of the term.
What ever the poltiics maybe, we the common rabble demographic like our politicans to be dignified, well at least the non-consrevative side does, and Mal has a certain dignity that is likeable.
Funny how he -appeals more to the left than the right, who hate the fact that he was once a merchant banker, what ever it is about politcs....it is strange stuff indeed.
