Yesterdays performance by PM Julia Gillard has gone viral. Our PM has become a hero, and is the TOAST of the international press. Meanwhile, the press gallery here, is still playing their juvenile games of 'gotcha' , trying to catch JG out whilst tire-pumping Australia's misogynist in chief. it's pathetic, and only makes us look like a bunch of hicks. And the MSM scratch their heads and wonder why they are going down the gurgler.
GO JG, give em heaps, you have made this nation proud.

One thing is abundantly clear, the MSM in Australia are in real danger of being left behind. How the real world reported yesterdays parliament as compared to our pathetic, insular, and myopic press gallery reported it, you know with total disconnect, is proof of that Sad in a way, the old guard, (Gratten, Hartcher, Kelly, Shanahan et al ) are fastly becoming irrelevant dinosaurs. Bring on the new guard: www.abc.net.au/unleashed/4305220.html

Jon Faine today made, what I consider, a couple of salient points. The first was when he had his regular Thursday segment with Barrie Cassidy, where they discussed the obvious disconnect between the way the International Press has picked up Ms Gillards speech in Parliament, and how they have portrayed her as a "hero" and her speech "masterful" , and the local Murdoch Tabloids, that have chosen to bury their collective heads in the sands, and instead ignored all that to try and beat up "leadershit" as well as a confected "election now" campaign. The second was during his thursday "television" segment. He was discussing Ahn Do's Vietnam docco, and how it rated its socks off. He pointed out that the contrast with that, compared to people like Alan Jone's gaffe, and just why the PM reacted to Abbott like she did, was perhaps a sign that, wtte, the old guard "dinosaurs" time has come, and the New Guard, represented by the Do's and the PM etc were now becoming the real mainstream Australia.
This also fits into the theory that perhaps the Polls are not truly representative. For starters the Polling companies only ring Landlines and not mobiles, yet the number of households that do not have a landline, and instead rely solely on their Mobiles, are growing at an exponential rate. If you happen to follow "social media" it's quite evident that the PM, and Government, is held in much higher than the LOTO and his Opposition. I wouldn't rely on the Polls as the definitive measure of public sentiment. The parties are clearly much closer than the polling is telling us.
